For the first time in the three-year history of the program, the Southern Oregon University beach volleyball team is headed to the NAIA Invitational.
The Raiders received an at-large bid on Monday to take the eighth and final spot at the tournament, which runs April 24-26 at the Greenville Beach Volleyball Complex in Greeneville, Tenn.
SOU was ranked No. 8 in Monday’s final Top 10 coaches’ poll after finishing second over the weekend at the Cascade Conference Tournament to Corban, which will enter the Invitational as the No. 2 overall seed.
The Raiders – who are 16-9 overall and went 12-3 in CCC duals – are scheduled to open pool play at 9 a.m. PT on April 24 against No. 4 seed Park (Mo.). They face No. 1 Ottawa (Ariz.) immediately following that dual, then wrap pool play against No. 5 Arizona Christian at 9 a.m. on April 25.
All eight teams at the Invitational will advance to bracket play. The quarterfinals are scheduled for April 25, and the semifinals and championship will take place April 26.
Corban is the only team in the field that has previously captured the title, winning the inaugural championship in 2022. Ottawa finished runner-up last season to Vanguard (Calif.), which won back-to-back titles before departing for the NCAA Division II level.
