A Josephine County sheriff’s deputy shot and injured a wanted man on Tuesday, police said.
The deputy — who police have not publicly identified — spotted Clinten Anthony Robertson, 33, near a store in O’Brien around noon, the Oregon State Police said in a statement. Officials did not say why Robertson had a warrant for his arrest; available court records don’t show any active cases against him in Oregon.
Robertson tried to flee in a car and rammed the deputy’s patrol car, leading the deputy to fire his gun at Robertson, police said. Police did not say if Robertson had a gun at the time he was shot by the deputy.
First responders drove Robertson to a hospital, police said. His current condition is not known.
No one else was injured in the incident.
Robertson pleaded guilty to a stalking charge in 2023 and to a second-degree kidnapping charge in 2022, according to court records.
The Oregon State Police is leading the investigation into the shooting.
