ASHLAND — Ayla Davies became the first freshman ever to receive the Cascade Conference Pitcher of the Year award, leading six Southern Oregon softball players on the All-CCC list that was released Thursday by the league office.
Davies was named to the All-CCC first team along with three teammates: senior outfielders Kailer Fulton and Sarah Kerling, and senior shortstop Sammie Pemberton. Davies, Kerling and Pemberton were also Gold Glove winners. The Raiders added a second-team selection in senior outfielder/first baseman Hailey Seva, while junior second baseman Vanessa Lang received honorable mention.
The group has pushed SOU to a CCC co-championship, a 44-6 record and the NAIA’s No. 4 ranking. The Raiders begin the double-elimination CCC Tournament at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Klamath Falls as the No. 2 seed.

Davies is at the top of nearly every CCC pitching leaderboard in her unprecedented debut campaign. The right-hander from Burns is 27-3 with a 0.98 ERA, 205 strikeouts and just 23 walks across 199 1/3 innings. She has logged 23 complete games and 14 shutouts in 26 starts. She leads the NAIA in wins, ranks second in saves with six, and has yet to commit an error.
Kerling made a strong case for the CCC Player of the Year award, which ultimately went to Oregon Tech second baseman Nita Cook. The center fielder won her third consecutive Gold Glove and leads the circuit with a .462 batting average — 53 points higher than Cook, compared to whom she also has a higher slugging percentage (.583) and on-base percentage (.494). The product of Livermore, Calif., has started 225 games in her career at SOU and already owns 12 more hits (72) than in any of her three previous seasons.
Like Kerling, Fulton got a first-team nod for the first time in her career. SOU’s starting left fielder, a .362 lifetime hitter, has a .441 average this season — second only to Kerling among CCC players. She also ranks second in hits (67) and runs scored (52) and third in stolen bases (37).
Pemberton, a four-year starting shortstop, had previously earned honorable mention but never before made an All-CCC team or collected a Gold Glove. She is batting .293 with 11 doubles and 25 RBIs. She recently became the sixth player in team history to log 40 career doubles.
Seva earned second-team recognition for the second year in a row on the strength of a big finish. After platooning in the lineup for a large chunk of the season, she was voted CCC Player of the Week each of the last two weeks while constructing an 11-game hitting streak. The senior is batting .378 with a team-high six home runs, five doubles, two triples and 29 RBIs.
Lang, in her first season with the Raiders, is batting .341 with nine extra-base hits and 30 runs scored. She has stolen 18 bases on as many attempts and owns a .949 fielding percentage at second.
