Springtime citywide and community yard sales a boon for bargain hunters

Sales a boost for shoppers and sellers with others held to benefit community projects; events kick off this weekend

As much a part of spring in the Rogue Valley as blooming daffodils and an influx of rafters appearing on the Rogue River, the annual lineup of citywide and community yard sales is well underway.

Citywide sales give residents a chance to find good deals, clean out overstuffed garages and, in some cases, help support community organizations.

This weekend, a trio of sales will be a bargain hunters dream with one of the three sales set to benefit doglovers who visit the Gold Hill Bark Park. Gold Hill resident Sam Hefter and his four-legged counterpart, a terrier named Willie, will help host the annual “Yardin’ in the Hill” dog park yard sale.

The sale is held in conjunction with an unofficial “citywide sale.” Residents can host a sale at their home, set up at the park for a small fee or donate items to be sold.

Hefter has helped to spearhead development of the much-used park for more than a decade and said proceeds from the annual sale, hosted by the community development organization known as CanDO, help fund needed improvements.

“Willie got a foxtail and had to go to the vet. It wasn’t good, so he really wants us to get water figured out for the dog park,” Hefter said, noting that irrigation for the park would keep the lawn green and provide water on hot days.

Here’s the list of spring yard sales for the region.

May 10 (Gold Hill)

Gold Hill’s signature “Yardin in the Hill” runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The one-day sale is held at the Gold Hill Sports Park (14745 Highway 234) with proceeds benefiting the Gold Hill Bark Park. Individuals and groups can rent a space for $20 — nonprofits can host a sale for free — or donate items to be sold. Shoppers who bring their favorite canine get a 10% discount.
Donations can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on sale day. For more info, or item pickup, contact Sam Hefter at 818-497-7756 or by email samhefter@gmail.com.

For more info, visit online. To donate to the dog park, visit the CanDO website and mark the donation “for dog park.”

May 10 (Phoenix)

In a second sale this weekend, the unofficial city of Phoenix citywide sale is open to anyone wishing to host a sale. As a fundraiser as part of the school’s participation in Southern Oregon Sparrow Clubs, Phoenix High School students will provide vendor space for a parking lot sale at 745 N. Rose St. To sign up to participate, or view a sale map, visit travelphoenixoregon.com.

May 9-11 (Shady Cove)

The longest of the trio of sales this weekend, the Shady Cove citywide yard sale runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday. The sale is “unofficially” hosted by a handful of residents and community groups. Residents are encouraged to take part. For more info, visit the event page on Facebook.

May 17 (Central Point)

Another two-for-one weekend on this year’s list includes the cities of Central Point and Talent, which have sales set for mid-May.

The Central Point Chamber of Commerce will host a one-day sale, kicking off at 8 a.m. with sale end times as seller discretion. Sale addresses located inside the 97502 zip code will be included on a sale map posted online at centralpointchamber.org/central-point-city-wide-yard-saleCanDO Gold Hill by May 16.

May 17-18 (Talent)

A heavily attended two-day event, the annual city of Talent citywide sale kicks off at 9 a.m. each day and is accompanied by food trucks and local garden club plant sales. A sale map will be posted to Facebook for Talent City-Wide Yard Sale 2025.

Registered participants receive two yard signs, a place on the Google map and have a chance to be asked to hide a rubber duck at their sale as part of the event’s “Quack-tivity,” where sale-goers can find a hidden object to win special prizes.

Visit online until May 15 to be added to register for inclusion on the sale map.

May 24-25 (east Medford)

Hosted by east Medford residents via the East Medford Community Facebook group, a two-day sale runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25. Medford residents are encouraged to hang signs and post their sale online. For sale details, and to watch for a Fall sale date, visit the East Medford Community Facebook page online.

May 30-31 (Rogue River)

The 3rd Annual Rogue River City Wide Yard Sale is slated from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the final weekend of May with a list of registered sale addresses posted the week prior.

To sign up, or for more info, visit the Rogue River Community Facebook page.

June 8, July 27, Sept. 7 (Southern Oregon Flea Market)

One of a series of flea market events held around the region, a trio of swap-meet-style sales will be held at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point. The sale opens at 9 a.m. and will be held inside the Seven Feathers Event Center. For more info, or to sign up as a seller, visit facebook.com/southernoregonfleamarket or call 541-295-5986. Admission is $2 for adults and teens. Kids 12 and under get in free.

September 6-7 (Jacksonville)

Always unofficial and always “the weekend after Labor Day,” tiny Jacksonville hosts one of few fall yard sales each year. Hordes of shoppers arrive with enthusiasm not unlike levels seen during the town’s early Gold Rush era.
The Central Point Chamber of Commerce holds a Fall sale each year, but a fall sale date has not yet been posted.

For the Jacksonville sale, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce officials confirmed this year’s sale date but reminded visitors the sale is a “no-host event” and that non-residents wishing to host a sale must contact the city at 541-899-1231 for a sale permit and to determine available locations. Sale-goers are encouraged to carpool as parking is extremely limited and parking laws are enforced.
