Rogue River city officials are urging residents to conserve water while a mechanical failure at the city’s water treatment plant is addressed.

City officials issued a notice via social media on Thursday stating that the facility was “struggling to match demand.”

“We are asking people to voluntarily conserve water in any way possible; this includes watering lawns, washing cars, doing full loads of laundry only, and taking shorter showers when possible. Please avoid filling swimming pools or ponds at this time.”

The statement said city officials expect to restore functionality of the water treatment plant by the weekend but said conservation measures should remain in place for at least one full week to allow the city storage reservoir to refill.
