Ashland Rocks: The Ashland rock, gem, mineral and jewelry show will be held Friday through Sunday, June 6-8, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland. The event will feature local and regional businesses showcasing a wide variety of fine gems, mineral specimens, artisan jewelry, lapidary material and crystal decor. The show will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free on Friday. Sanctuary One Tours: Sanctuary One, a nonprofit animal rescue care farm, will offer tours at 10:30 a.m. every Friday and Saturday through Oct. 18, at 13195 Upper Applegate Road, Jacksonville. A staff member or volunteer will guide you around the farm, explain how a care farm works and answer questions. The tour also includes a chance to meet the sanctuary’s herd of rescued farm animals and house pets. Tours last 90 minutes and involve walking about 3/4 mile. SOPEX Stamp Show: The Southern Oregon Philatelic Society’s annual stamp show, SOPEX, will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 6, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, in the United Methodist Church Social Hall, 607 W. Main St., Medford. The show, one of the largest in the state put on by a local stamp club, will feature exhibit pages and at least eight dealers selling stamps, covers, postcards and collecting supplies, as well as the opportunity to buy stamps and collections. The stamp club will offer free stamps for children. Admission is free. The Southern Oregon Philatelic Society is the only stamp club between Eugene and Sacramento, Calif. Gold Dust Day: The city of Gold Hill will hold its annual celebration of its colorful 130 year heritage from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7. A street fair featuring nearly 70 vendors will begin at 9 a.m., with a parade starting at 10 a.m. Following the parade, look for a car and motorcycle show, Gold Hill Museum activities, historical and educational displays, kid activities, Miss Annie’s puppet show and live music will be performed by Shake Down, the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers, Down Stream Singers and the Southern Oregon Songwriters Association. Haunted History Tour: Docents will lead an hour-long “Haunted History” walking tour the second Friday of each month through August — with special tours in September and October — in downtown Jacksonville. The courthouse tour features stories of brothels, epidemics and hangings. The Britt Hill tour shares tales of arson, saloons and Oregon’s first Chinatown.
