The shelter, 332 W. Sixth Street, is open nightly beginning at 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. the next morning, but more volunteers are needed.
The National Weather Service office in Medford predicts temperatures will be in the high teens to low 20s through at least Tuesday overnight into Wednesday morning. Ashland, which has a community severe weather shelter at 2200 Ashland St., could see overnight lows in the mid teens for the next five days.
Ashland city officials declared an Extended Weather Declaration Tuesday afternoon, allowing Rogue Retreat to extend hours and increase capacity at the shelter. Regularly open 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., the center will remain open 24 hours per day until at least Tuesday morning. Weather conditions could cause a potential extension of services.
