George “Leroy” Asher

George “Leroy” Asher passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday February 17, 2024. He was 86 years old.
Leroy was born on September 28, 1937 in Tulare, California. He moved to the Rogue Valley with family in 1949. He attended Central Point schools and graduated from Crater High school in 1955. He married Nancy Higinbotham in 1956. They had 3 daughters, Julie, Teresa Sandoval, Sharyl Geyer. Leroy had 7 grandchildren, Erin Kerby, Katelyn Howell, Kelsie Rees, Derek Rees, Kimberly Connolly, Kenneth Sandoval, Cole Asher. He had 15 great grandchildren.
Leroy was a very popular meat cutter in the Rogue Valley. He worked 55 years as a butcher, 33 of which were served at Quality Market.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy (Higinbotham) in February 2022, parents George and Kathryn and brother Gary Asher. He is survived by his sisters Betty Howard, June Neel, Elaine Johnson, and brothers Larry and Jerry Asher.
A memorial service will be held at Ashland Bible Church on March 2, 2024 at 1:00, 400 Dead Indian Memorial Road, Ashland, Oregon.
