Rogue River Rooster Crow festival kicks off Friday evening

The 71st annual Rooster Crow festival in Rogue River kicks off Friday with dinner at the Rogue River Community Center at 4 p.m. and live music at 6 p.m. by JD the Singing Barber.

On Saturday, the Rooster Crow Parade begins at 10 a.m., featuring entries from local businesses, churches, social and civic groups, along with antique cars and tractors. The Don West Band will play at the Woodville Museum Bandstand, 199 1st St., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and live entertainment, along with a vendor fair, will continue throughout the day.

The Human Rooster Crow Contest begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the bandstand. Actual roosters also will have their chance to shine Saturday.

Activities Sunday include a car show beginning at 9 a.m., Church in the Park at 10 a.m. The Cal-Ore River Racers will hold hydroplane races on the Rogue River at noon each day, with qualifications Saturday and the big race Sunday.
