ELECTION LETTERS: Commissioners measures and contest for judge

Look beyond the promises of commissioners measures

I attended the town hall meeting presented by Jackson County for All (JCFA), and was surprised to see a strong showing of people questioning the information.

If the goal is to make county government more responsive to all, then why put it on the low turnout May ballot?

Signature gatherers told voters this would save money and the county administrator refuted this claim thoroughly, yet Denise Krause provided her unprofessional assessment that the administrator doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Currently, because of quorum rules our three members must convene in public to ensure that citizens have unfettered access to deliberations. Five members would allow secret meetings.

Jackson County is one of the best run counties in Oregon, earning more awards than I can list here. I encourage more voters to look beyond the promises made by these proposed measures.

Davis has earned support to become Circuit Court Judge

I would like to recommend Joe Davis for Circuit Court Judge. He has been an advocate for children and families through his law practice for many years, and as a former prosecutor, knows well the ways of the judicial system.

In addition he has served on the YMCA Board of Directors, the Rogue Community College board, and the Living Opportunities board, among other community endeavors. He would be a wise, compassionate and diligent judge.

Please consider giving Joe Davis your vote.
