The holiday event draws out thousands from around the region to see the trees up close, and it serves as a fundraiser to support people battling cancer.
Outside of the trees on display, there’s much more to check out at the event that caters to families.
“It will have the same things everyone loves and enjoys about the festival with Santa, the Teddy Bear Hospital, public entertainment on the stage and raffles,” said Kyndra Irigoyen, event coordinator for the Festival of Trees and associate philanthropy officer for the Providence Community Health Foundation. “Everyone has the opportunity to view the trees and wreaths and all of the displays.”

The Providence Festival of Trees is scheduled 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8, at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway.
Tickets cost $8 per person for adults; $5 for kids ages 3-12 and seniors 65 years and older; and it’s all free for kids ages 2 and under. Tickets can only be purchased at the door.
The holiday displays go beyond just the large, classic Christmas trees, with mini-tree displays and wreaths also shown at the festival.
Many of the trees and wreaths takes months of planning and decorating before being submitted for the event, and they sometimes incorporate full themes or other creative elements in the display.
While the trees are well worth a gander, kids and families will have plenty to do.
“Kids will have the opportunity to go through the Teddy Bear Hospital and have their teddy get a health check up, an X-ray, a honey IV and pick up their prescription from the teddy doctors,” Irigoyen said. “The kids can bring their teddy bear or a stuffed animal from home or purchase one there for $5.”
Scheduled live performances include Miss Diana’s School of Ballet in Medford, Fusion Dance Academy of Grants Pass, the Siskiyou Violins group and more.
“We always have a good mix of dancing groups and singing groups,” Irigoyen said.
The money raised during this year’s Festival of Trees will benefit the Providence Medford Medical Center and will boost efforts to establish a high dose rate (HDR) facility at the hospital, which is used by patients with cancer as a form of radiotherapy to counter the disease.
Over the past three decades of putting on the event, the Providence Community Health Foundation has raised more than $12 million to support cancer patients in the Rogue Valley.
“We raised more than $575,000 last year,” Irigoyen said. “Our goal is to always raise more than $500,000 each year.”
Most of the funds raised arrive from the festival’s yearly Gala Dinner & Auction which involves individuals and organizations bidding on the 50-plus Christmas trees that will be displayed during the event.
While reservations for the gala have wrapped up, anyone can participate in the online auction.

“I’m just looking forward to welcoming the community again,” Irigoyen said of the festival. “This is a cherished event for the community, and I’m so happy the festival has survived three decades to welcome the community to celebrate the Christmas season and also celebrate Providence.”
