UPDATE: Trail Fire, Lemolo Fire prompt evacuation notices near popular lakes

An evacuation notice has been issued for the Lemolo Fire near Lemolo Lake, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

Meanwhile, the Trail Fire off Highway 138 near Diamond Lake was estimated at 100 acres Wednesday evening, and evacuation notices also have been issued, according to the U.S. Forest Service and the sheriff’s office.
Both fires were apparently sparked by lightning.
A Level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation notice was issued late Wednesday for the campgrounds and resort at Lemolo Lake, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post. No acreage estimate was given for the Lemolo Fire.

According to the sheriff’s office, evacuation notices near the Trail Fire have been issued for the following areas:
• Level 3 (Go) — All USFS and Pacific Crest Trail routes in the Diamond Lake Area. PCT from the intersection of Highway 138 east at the North Crater trailhead. North Crater Trail #1410. USFS Summit Rock Crater Trail #1457. Mt. Thielsen Trail #1456. Spruce Ridge Trail #1458. Howlock Mountain Trail #1448. Thielsen Creek Trail #1449.
• Level 2 (Be set) — Diamond Lake Horse Corrals, Diamond Lake Campground (including all 238 sites and all loops A-M), Diamond Lake RV Park (All 110 sites).
Resources on scene Wednesday night included a dozer, three engines, a water tender, hand crews, plus air attack assets, according to a Facebook post from the USFA Umpqua National Forest.
