ADOPT A PET: Joey

Published 6:00 am Friday, April 18, 2025

Age: Joey is a 1 year, 3-month-old male Pit Bull mix.

Personality: Gentle, sweet, sensitive, adores people he has bonded to, loves to cuddle, athletic, curious.

Highlights: Joey a handsome guy, always dressed for the finest black tie occasions and a consummate gentleman at heart, with smiling eyes and a happily wagging tail. On top of his gentle demeanor, Joey is always ready to wow you with his best “sit” and “shake” on command, and will never turn down an opportunity to learn — as long as lots of treats are involved.

Joey may be timid upon first meeting, but once he’s had time to warm up, he’ll have nothing but endless kisses and cuddles to give! Being such a young pup, it’s likely his energy level will rise as he adjusts to his new environment, so it’s important that his family can offer him plenty of regular exercise, playtime and mental stimulation to keep him healthy, happy and thriving!

While his history with cats is unknown, Joey is not compatible in a home with young children. Joey has done well with older, dog savvy children, and we recommend a meet-and-greet with all members of the household. Joey looks forward to proper introductions to any other canine friends in the home prior to adoption.

Availability: Joey is available at the Jackson County Animal Shelter, 5595 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix. The shelter is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and Noon – 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Walk-ins welcomed. No appointment needed. View Jackson County’s adoptable pets at jacksoncountyor.gov/pets.
