The Rite Aid store at Medford Center was slated to close Monday.

The store, at 981 Medford Center, had a sign posted inside the store Monday saying that Sept. 18 was its last day in business. A store manager referred all media inquiries to Rite Aid’s corporate office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

In response to submitted questions, Rite Aid confirmed the closing date of its Medford Center location and offered a written statement saying the decision was made as the company “regularly reviews each of its locations.”

“A decision to close a store is one we take very seriously and is based on a variety of factors, including business strategy, lease and rent considerations, local business conditions and viability, and store performance,” the statement said.

In the event of a store closure, Rite Aid will transfer associates to other Rite Aid stores “where possible,” and also transfer customer prescriptions “so there is no disruption of services,” the statement said.
