Five people were taken to the hospital after First Student Bus 3 and a black Ford Ranger collided around 4 p.m. Wednesday on the corner of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg.

According to a Roseburg police report, the pickup was traveling southbound in the left turn lane of Stephens while the school bus was heading north. The pickup failed to yield to the bus while at the yellow flashing light, and turned, causing the crash.

The school bus driver and four Roseburg Public Schools students were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries. The pickup driver declined medical transport.

The pickup was towed from the scene while the bus was able to be driven away.

Roseburg Public Schools spokesperson Chelsea Duncan said transportation provider First Student responded to the scene and facilitated alternative transportation for students who were riding in the bus. Duncan said parents or guardians of the students were contacted. She declined to say which school the bus was coming from.

The police report said the investigation into the accident is ongoing and charges in the accident are pending.
