Medford road rage suspect arrested; fired handgun at two victims, police allege

A 34-year-old Medford man was arrested after surrendering to Medford police following an earlier alleged road rage incident involving use of a firearm.
Brandon Earl Robert Blackwell of Medford was arraigned in Jackson County Circuit Court on Tuesday afternoon before Circuit Court Judge Christine Herbert and remains lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $200,000 bail, records show.
Blackwell is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and two misdemeanor counts of menacing.
Blackwell allegedly threatened two individuals with a handgun at a private residence in the 2100 block of Crater Lake Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
He initially left the area, and the alleged victims contacted Medford police, who collected victim statements and began searching for a suspect.
Approximately 30 minutes later, one of the victims contacted police again to report that the man, later identified as Blackwell, had returned and following a verbal exchange allegedly fired a gun from his vehicle as he left the scene.
No injuries were reported. One of the victims was able to provide a vehicle description and a photo of the license plate, leading to identification of Blackwell.
Around 10 a.m. Friday morning, officers located Blackwell at a property on Gilman Road in Medford and surrounded the location.
Blackwell was taken into custody without incident, and the firearm allegedly to have been used in the incident was recovered and seized.
This case will be prosecuted by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office.
According to court documents, Blackwell is set for an initial hearing at 4 p.m. Jan. 27.
